Wind Turbine opinion to approve in AONB.
Pragma Planning has secured an opinion to approve the planning application for the erection of a wind turbine within an AONB.
Pragma Planning in association with Watt Surveying (Ballymena) have secured an opinion from Planning Service to approve a planning application for a wind turbine within the Antrim Coast and Glens Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
This opinion, being presented to Ballymena Borough Council is a watershed in the renewables sector and illustrates that with careful siting and good planning such structures can be accommodated in sensitive areas such as AONB's.
The proposed turbine is 30m in height (to the hub) and has an output of 225kw. This is sufficient to provide electiricty to the nearby farm holding and will help to reduce the power requirement of the holding thereby making the operation more sustainable in the long term.
