Planning Service to be scrapped!
Ian Maye gave more details of the restructuring proposals for Planning Service at the RTPI AGM.
In April 2011 Planning Service ceases to exist and will be replaced by two sections within DoE.
One of these sections will handle local issues and may in due course be devolved to local government whilst the other will handle strategic matters.
The current 6 divisions are being reorganised into 5 area planning offices which will map directly onto both the current 26 Local Government Districts and the proposed 11 new districts.
Seperately we have been told that four of the current nine Grade 6 (Divisional Planning Manager) level posts will also be abolished with the current post holders potentially having to apply for their current jobs.
